The Birth of The Internet in LA

50 years ago the first message was sent over the ARPANET (the precursor to the internet) from this room at UCLA. They tried to send the word LOGIN but the system crashed before they could get past O. The full potential of the internet was still years away, but that day the course of human history was irrevocably alterted. This moment came at the tail end of the 1960’s, a decade that saw the civil rights movement, the British Invasion, Motown, the height of the Vietnam War, and the moon landing. The 60’s were nuts!
